Despite Governor Jay Inslee's plan to safely reopen Washington in four phases, Slidewaters Water Park is planning to reopen to the public by the latest June 15th.
In a message to customers, Slidewaters's owner Robert Bordner said that they will be stepping up their efforts to make sure the park is as clean and safe as possible ahead of their reopening.
Their June 15 plans are based on comments Gov. Jay Inslee made Friday about a phased reopening of businesses throughout the state in response to the COVID-19 pandemic..
Phase 3 of the governors plan specifically references swimming pools, which would be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity. The date for Phase 3 is not clear along with phases 1 and 2.
Slidewaters had planned to open a new feature this year called Lakeside Surf but that may be delayed, Bordner said.
“We are stuck until workers can travel from Germany to Chelan to complete their work,” he said. “From the day they arrive in Chelan, we believe we are 7-10 days away from surfing.”
Slidewaters is also planning to open the River Run Grill by the middle of May for takeout orders, Bordner said.
