SR-17 Highway will fully close south of ML for four days for railroad crossing safety project

SR-17 Rd. M SE Railroad Crossing Improvements


Travel times to and from the southern portion of Moses Lake will be affected due to the temporary closing of SR-17 at milepost 48 near Rd. M for advanced railroad safety improvements. The closure will be from Friday March 5th to Monday March 8th at 6:00pm (18:00). The project will provide safety improvements to the rail crossing, adding pull out lanes for vehicles that are required by law to stop at RR crossings. Additionally, a new cantilever with railroad flashing LED lights, an active advanced warning system, beam guardrail, permanent signing, and pavement markings will be added.



SR 17 Strategic Pavement Preservation #9624

Location: MP 42-51 (south of I-90 to Road 5 SE)


Central Washington Asphalt, Inc. is the contractor for the region’s 2021 Strategic Pavement Preservation project. Work will include crack seal, pothole repair, and chipseal. Locations selected for this season are US 2 (MP 78-90), SR 17 (MP 42-51), SR 24 (43-63), SR 26 (MP 18-32), US 97A (MP 236-240), SR 170 (MP 2-4), SR 172 (MP 0-18). Work schedule: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., expect flagger controlled traffic with delays up to 20 minutes where the contractor is crack sealing the highway.
