Friday, the Washington State House of Representatives passed SB 5497, the “Keep Washington Working Act”. The bill would focuses on ensuring that Washington State remains a powerful state economy that employs a diverse immigrant work force.
It will also recognize the hard work done by law enforcement officers to serve and protect Washington State, and makes it clear they should not be distracted by or use state resources for federal immigration enforcement.
The bill is in its final steps. It will be sent the legislation of the Senate for a concurrence vote and then it’s to the Governor’s desk.
