Charles Bergman accused killer of missing Moses Lake woman aprehended in Pennsylvania


After being declared missing for over three days, Lincoln County authorities issued a nationwide warrant for the arrest of 54-year-old Charles Bergman who is now being accused of first-degree murder after a body presumed to be his wife 53-year-old Theresa Bergman was found by a farmer in tall grass in the rural area of Lincoln County.


On Friday September 23rd, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office provided an update stating that Charles Bergman was aprehended 2,378 miles away in New Stanton, Pennsylvania a suburb of Pittsburg. Bergman was aprehended by US Marshals under suspicion of first-degree murder. Authorities have not disclosed why Charles was in the east coast or why he chose New Stanton. Charles Bergman will now wait extradition back to Washington State.


Timeline of events


  • Friday September 9th - Saturday September 10th, Court Documents show Theresa driving to the town of Harrison Idaho approx. 1 hour and 20min from Spokane. On September 10th Theresa Bergman left Washington and flew to New York. Her purpose of travel was to visit an old boyfriend with a returning back flight scheduled for September 17th.


  • Saturday September 17th, released surveillance cameras show Charles Bergman classified by authorities at a Walmart in Grant County purchasing a small shovel and rope.

  • Sunday September 18th, Theresa Bergman arrives at Spokane International Airport (GEG) and surveillance video shows Theresa and her husband Charles together leaving the terminal at approximately 12:40am. On this same day cell signals from Charles’s phone was picked up in a tomate section of Lincoln County. The Bergman’s daughter said she received a text from Theresa saying she arrived at Spokane International.


  • Monday, September 19th, More information was disclosed by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office regarding the couple. The Bergman’s daughter told authorities that the couple has been married for 36-years and that her mother Theresa recently asked her husband Charles for a separation. The Bergman’s daughter told authorities that her father Charles became depressed and contemplated suicide since Theresa asked for the separation.


  • Tuesday, September 20th, The Grant County Sheriff’s Office release a missing persons alert for both Theresa and Charles.
