A Bellingham WA man named Tucker Robert Matthewson, 25 was jailed Thursday evening on suspicion of passing a car on the right shoulder of a portion of Highway 2 near Wenatchee and pointing a handgun at the other drivers.
Matthewson could be charged with second-degree assault after his arrest at 4:30 p.m. He was arrested by Washington State Patrol troopers but was stopped by cooperating agencies. Mathewson was stopped on Highway United States - 2 near Easy Street in North Wenatchee. He is jailed in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center, awaiting a first court appearance and bail setting.
Troopers said Matthewson, was driving a blue Kia Rio eastbound on Highway US - 2 near Monitor, he then leaned out of the car and pointed a handgun at the two women he had just passed on the left shoulder. He then continued driving erratically into the Sunnyslope area, according to WSP. When arrested, Matthewson was in possession a handgun in his backpack located on his passenger seat that appeared similar to the one described by the two victims. Matthewson admitted pointing the hand gun at the women as he passed, but denied he was holding a weapon at the time.
