Four injured in 3-vehicle collision on the 17 Highway south of Othello

Four individuals were injured in a DUI related collision on SR-17 south of the town of Othello near milepost 24. According to the Washington State patrol those involved in the collision were from Oregon, and of Othello, Tonasket, and Omak.


Kyle J. Newman, 31-years-old, of Tonasket, was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger on the southbound side of the 17 highway just before 3:38 p.m. in front of him him was driver Clemente Martinez, 49 years-old, of Othello, according to officials he slowed his 2015 Toyota Highlander to turn left into a driveway where Newman struck Martinez causing the vehicle to move onto the northbound lane causing a chain collision striking Miguel Flores, 48-years-old, of Othello who was driving a 2016 Cadillac XTS, the Cadillac rolled into the side shoulder ditch and came to a rest on it's top.


Andrea J. Klupenger, 50, of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, was also driving northbound swerved her 2005 GMC Sierra into the northbound ditch to avoid striking the other vehicles, Klupenger wasn't caring other passengers, she was not injured. Flores, and Martinez and his two passengers, Cameron J. Weimer age-17, and Tamara A. Weimer age-50, both residents of Greenacres, were injured and transported to Othello Community Hospital. WSP said Cameron Weimer was not wearing his seat belt. According to Washington State Patrol, Kyle Newman faces a citation for following too closely.


The collisions closed Highway 17 in both directions for two hours following an investigation
