Governor Inslee announcing a new phase opening strategy for Washington. Breaking down into regions.

- Olympia, WA

Gov. Jay Inslee today announced a new phase reopening strategy that will get rid of the current sole county reopening style to a new regional grouping style called “Healthy Washington — Roadmap to Recovery,”. The new strategy will beginning on January 11, the state will follow a regional recovery approach with every region beginning in Phase 1.

Moses Lake and all of Grant County are grouped in the North Central region making it the second biggest metro region and city in the region just shy of Wenatchee. The new regional approach to reopening the state will cut off one of the Moses Lake area's suburb towns, Othello located in the East region.

“No one was untouched by the effects of the pandemic in 2020; many have and continue to suffer through no fault of their own,” Inslee said during a press conference Tuesday. “We aren’t out of this yet, but we are close to turning the corner on COVID-19 and this third wave of infection.”

The state said that new recovery system aims to safely ease some restrictions while also maintaining crucial hospital capacity, ensuring care for Washingtonians that need it and paving the way for economic recovery.
