The Grant County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) is reminding the public that government agencies will never demand money over the phone.  According to GCSO an Ephrata resident lost $800 when they sent money to a person who said they were from the Grant County Jail.

The person who called said the resident needed to pay fines or go to jail. They then transferred money via a money card or wire transfer.
