VIDEO: Mariners clinch the AL Wildcard ending a historic 21-year post season drought

-Seattle, WA

The Seattle Mariners have made history tonight, as the team is heading to the 2022 MLB playoffs ending a 21-year post season drought, as it was the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs, full count tied 1-1 Cal Raleigh blasted a walk off home run to right field.

Seattle beat Oakland Friday night with a 2-1 score. Post season tickets went on sale Friday morning including tickets for the American League Wild Card and American League Division series and American League championship series home game and sold out within minutes, the Mariners said.

As of today the Mariners are number 5 seed in the American League Baseball playoff bracket. If this stays the Mariners will fly to Toronto and face off the Blue Jays in a best of three wildcard game, however with six games left for both teams the seeding bracket can change. If the Mariners climb the bracket ahead of Toronto they will face the three game series against the Canadian team in Seattle.

With history being made tonight, the last time the Mariners made it to the post season was back in 2001 when they also set an all time MLB record of 116 wins in the regular season, Seattle came close then but fell to the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series (ALCS).
