Early Friday morning, Officers responded to Samaritan Hospital for a report of a 9-week old baby that had sustained severe injuries and was getting prepared to be flown out to Spokane for treatment. The baby had 8 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, three leg fractures, as well
as abrasions and bruising to the face and head.
According to MLPD, Investigating officers interviewed family members and recovered substantial evidence, including a security video
that captured audio of part of the assault.
Saturday morning, detectives arrested Donovan Cantu, 21, Moses Lake. He was booked into the Grant County Jail in Ephrata on charges of Assault of a Child in the First Degree. The child
continues to undergo treatment for its injuries.
