MLSD & MLPD investigating online violent threats made at Moses Lake High School

The Moses Lake Police Department is looking into an online threat circulating high schoolers phones threatening violence on Tuesday morning at Moses Lake High School. According to the school district, administration receive STOPit Reports and forwarded social media posts circulating in the community regarding potential acts of violence at Moses Lake High School campus.


“We are aware of the many rumors regarding a potential weapon on campus. These rumors that are circulating are being taken seriously and investigations have and are taking place.” The district stated.

In a statement to parents the high school said they take all matters seriously,

“The Moses Lake Police Department School Resource Officers and administration work together to determine how to handle non-credible situations as well as credible situations using threat assessment criteria as a guideline. Should a threat be found to be credible, appropriate actions will take place from the school as well as law enforcement. Depending on each report/investigation, actions could include anything from a lockdown to school closure. Please know that student safety is our top priority and during these times it is the partnership between the district, schools, students, parents, and the community that is needed. During these times it is important that any information that might be a threat to our schools is communicated to school staff immediately.”

MLPD said similar threats have been reported across different communities across the state most recently in Monroe in Snohomish County. MLPD said in a statement that at this time they do not view this threat to be viable, however, investigations are continuing. The police department will have increased police presence at Moses Lake High School throughout the day today, Tuesday, December 7th, as well as district administrator presence.


Both the Moses Lake School District and Moses Lake Police Department said that should any threat be found to be credible, appropriate actions will take place from the school as well as law enforcement. Depending on each report/investigation, actions could include anything from a lockdown to school closure.
