A Moses Lake man was charged for intentional hit and run on Yonezawa Blvd. Sunday afternoon. According to an MLPD report the man driving an electric vehicle got into a verbal altercation, which was then verified by three eye-witnesses. MLPD said they were not initially notified nor looking for the suspect instead a seasonal officer took it into his own hands to gather information and look for the electric vehicle described as a Red Tesla Model 3.

MLPD said the seasonal officer looked for the vehicle at multiple charging stations around town. Tesla vehicles are equipped to be charged when plugged into a standard 3-prong home outlet. Because of this rechargeable design the driver and his Tesla was finally spotted illegally charging his vehicle from an outdoor plug from the Moses Lake Post Office in downtown. The seasonal officer was able to verify the vehicle from the hand prints and marks left behind on the vehicles front trunk hood.

According to the Moses Lake Police Department, the victim suffered bumps, bruises, and cuts. The driver was transferred to Ephrata where he was booked at the Grant County Jail for felony Assault 2nd Degree and Hit and Run. MLPD said the reason they were able to find the driver was because of the lack of Tesla vehicles in the area.
