— Mattawa WA

Grant County Sheriff's Office advised a 5000-acre wildfire is burning in the Saddle Mountains northwest of the town of Mattawa and south of the Saddle Mountain Fault Line Sunday afternoon.

As of 6:00 p.m. Sunday, there are level 1 fire evacuations in place for the 23000 block of road E-SW to road O-SW. A level 1 evacuation means be prepared leave, but you are not in danger right now.

The Washington State Fire Marshal said state mobilization was approved for the fire. The fire is being fueled by dry sagebrush and grass, according to the Grant County Fire District. It is burning to the north up the mountain.

The Grant County Sheriff‘s Office said Fire District 8 will use three aircraft to combat the fire, so keep drones on the ground.
