Prisons in Washington State will resume in person visitations on May 9th

The Washington State Department of Corrections announced Monday that in-person visitations will begin on May 29th across the state. The state decided to suspended all visitations at all correctional facilities across the state at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic on March 13, 2020.


Jails will allow approved visitors this includes those who have gone through the process to get on an incarcerated person’s “Approved Visitor List”. Those on the approved list can now submit an appointment request form online. Visits are scheduled to start May 9, in time for Mother’s Day. The Department of Corrections announced that one-hour visitations with those 16 years old or older will be allowed only once per month, visitors will need to pass a COVID-19 screening.
