State lawmakers have proposed a bill that would make it a requirement to show proof of liability insurance before being able to renew or obtain car tabs. Senate Bill 5924 has the backing of 17 state senators and aims to make sure drivers are carrying the required insurance.
State law mandates drivers must have at least $25,000 of bodily injury insurance for one victim or $50,000 for 2 or more victims, plus $10,000 in property liability insurance. Or you can provide the state with a certificate of deposit or liability bond of at least $60,000.
