Rep. Newhouse hosting Senior Symposium March 18 in Othello

Rep. Dan Newhouse is hosting a Senior Symposium March 18 in Othello to highlight resources available to seniors and their families in Central Washington.


The event will be held at the Othello Senior Center at 755 N. Ninth St. from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. The event is free and will be open to all seniors and their families.


Newhouse will present and answer any questions on three major panels and help participants navigate available systems and benefits.


The major panels are as follows:


• Benefits Panel (noon to 12:50 p.m.) including information about Social Security and Medicare, health care benefits, retirement and long-term care.


• Fraud and Theft Panel (1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.) providing information about tax filing and protection from identity theft threats.


• Veterans Panel (2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.) providing information about services available to veterans in the area, obtaining benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs and receiving care at VA medical centers and clinics.


The Othello Senior event is the fifth panel-style event for seniors that Rep. Newhouse has hosted in Central Washington during his terms.
