Shooting victim in Moses Lake North shooting identified by Grant County Sheriffs

Grant County Sheriffs have identified a victim in a Moses Lake North shooting Tuesday morning. The Sheriffs Office has identified the victim as a local man named 21 year-old Phoenix Johnson.


GCSO says that Johnson was driving a vehicle around the Carswell Drive and Schilling Drive area around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday evening. Deputies responded to multiple reports of shots fired, with eyewitnesses reporting that a black sedan was struck by gunfire several times and saying that Johnson sustained a number of gun wounds.


Johnson was transferred to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake and was then transferred to Spokane where he passed away from his injuries. There are still no suspects in custody and the shooting is still under an investigation.



The Grant County Sheriff's Office has launched a site where residents who have helpful video or surveillance video showing the incident, victim or suspects can upload them to the site. When logging onto the site you will be greeted with the following message.

We are asking citizens of the Larson Community area to review their residential camera systems for any video or still photos which might assist in the investigation of a moving confrontation between vehicles at or near the intersection of Carswell Drive and Schilling Drive which subsequently ended with one individual mortally shot.
