Soroptimist to Hold Annual Fundraiser on June 15th Theme is Summer of Love

— Moses Lake WA

Soroptimist International of Moses Lake is finalizing plans for their annual fundraiser that raises funds to support programs for women and children in Moses Lake.

This fundraiser was introduced to the community in 2014, the fundraiser has since raised more than $100,000 in net-program funds to support local community programs. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and the Soroptimist members are going to dig out their tie dye and have a celebration to raise funds for their community programs.

This year’s fundraiser takes place on Saturday, June 15th from 5:00–10:00 p.m.

Tickets are still available and are $75/person and include dinner and all the evening’s fun, raffles and a live auction. There will be a Closest to the Pin contest for a 50/50 split starting at 5:15pm, the event takes place at the Moses Lake Country Club. You can purchase tickets online for the event by going to www.moseslakesoroptimist.net.

For some, this event introduces them to what Soroptimist is all about, focusing on programs such as the Care 4 Kids, where Soroptimist members provide backpacks of needed supplies, such as clothing, school supplies, hygiene kits, haircut vouchers, etc., to children in need. Other programs include the Live Your Dream Award, Violet Richardson Award and the Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls.

For others, the annual fundraiser is a time to get together and not only raise funds for Soroptimist programs but a time to celebrate and recognize the recent recipient of the Violet Richardson Award.

The Violet Richardson Award program recognizes girls ages 13-18 for demonstrating leadership in their communities by identifying issues important to them and creating solutions and getting involved to make the world a better place.

Also recognized at the event is the recent Live Your Dream Award recipient. This award assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families
